Week 6 LoL FFL Post:

NOTE: TRADE DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY

Sorry it’s not Kyriacos this week. I am once again filling in. I am sure Chris is happy with this result, even though he can’t beat me with Gibson & Ekeler scoring a combined 10 points…

Chris v Naz:

Victory never felt so good. Despite not getting Antonio Gibson in a trade and suffering the abysmal 3.4 points he put up, Chris’ team was not good enough. A couple of key factors here to mention in this loss that could’ve been a win: Chris debated whether to play Devonte Smith on Thursday night or wait and see if CMC was out to play Hubbard instead. He asked my opinion, and like Humza knows, I told the truth to make it competitive: wait and play Hubbard; if CMC plays, play another WR at the flex position. Did he take my suggestion: nope. What was the cost? 8.9 points lost. As mentioned in the last post, I blocked his ability to get Zach Ertz and forcing the play of Njoku. What was the cost? 9.8 points lost. These two moves cost Chris a total of 18.7 points this previous week. The score in the end: 121.4 – 102.0, a difference of 19.6 points, similar to my prediction last week for the matchup of 122-103. So, in the end, it would’ve been a much tighter game, but no real difference. Chris loses either way. CeeDee Lamb came to my rescue and the Cowboy’s rescue by delivering W’s all around.

Colten v Rimmel:

Colten takes the easy victory against the lowest scoring team this week. Both teams, like half the league (6 teams) are at 3-3 and have a playoff record. Everyone is still in the hunt as we approach the trade deadline. Justin Herbert could not play hero this week and put up a Taylor Heinicke type performance with 11.0 points. Gaskin disappeared again and put up 2.4 points. With a top performer of ~15 points, Rimmel’s team suffered and got his 1st lowest points award of the season. Not bad, considering its week 6 and most of us expected it much sooner. Colten’s team didn’t do much better, but got carried by his TE, DEF, and K, with a combined 48 points between the 3 players, including Noah Fant’s 20.2 points.

Ahsan v Humza:

Ahsan is NO LONGER winless! No more winless or undefeated teams in the league! Humza suffers another crushing loss. Both are now 1-5 at the bottom of the league with a 1% and 2% chance of making the playoffs, respectively. Oh Humza, what can I say. A solid team in theory, but it suffers from player choices. Another disappointing week that could’ve been avoided with different substitutions. I mean, Cleveland defense against the Cardinals? You got to make that change. With only 5 players on the bench, they scored a combined 96.9 points, more than his entire starting lineup of 87.7 points. It doesn’t help that he has had the 2nd most points scored against him on the season thus far. Despite being winless and trading 3 of his best players, Ahsan found himself getting a victory. Nothing crazy, just a solid performance from all players involved. No one scoring above 13 points except for Aaron Rodgers. Just enough to get the job done and put that first W up on the board. There is hope for you both to not be in the last place game come week 14, but this may be a potential preview of that game based on the current standings.

ree

Yas v Sean:

Condolences to Sean. His hopes of appearing in the playoffs went away faster than Chris finding out he’s the father. (Did I do that right, Kyriacos?). With all of his Cleveland Browns players being out, he suffered another loss, will probably endure another this next week, and will lose some more because of it. Not to mention, we haven’t reached week 12 and 13, where the Browns and Chiefs have bye weeks. That’s a lot of guaranteed losses. There is hope for the rest of us, knowing Sean will be there greeting us below. We thank you for your service. Kupp goes off again and Darrell Williams stash, again for some random reason 3 weeks ago, pays huge dividends. I projected a Yas win with 123 points, he scored 125 instead. Easy win to stay on top of the division with Kyriacos. Sean moves to 2-4 with a 12% chance, per ESPN projections.

ree

Kcos v Alex:

The hopes of Monday sparing Alex were a lost cause. Josh Allen and Derrick Henry once again boomed and scored a combined 62 points, giving Kyriacos a total of 130 points to easily defeat Alex, a close point total to my prediction of 127 points. A valiant effort from Alex with deep replacements playing in Mark Ingram and Devonte Freeman. Only this is not 2018. They are not who they used to be. Not enough star power here for Alex to hold up against Kyriacos’ boasted lineup.

Parth v Ali:

If there ever was a slow death, this was it. Going into Monday night, needing only 6.5 points to win from Zack Moss, it seemed like a guaranteed win. Moss had double digit scoring in each game this season. There was no way this could be a loss. Unfortunately, I believe that Parth paid off the Bills in this one. I refuse to believe otherwise. It’s 3rd and 17 at the end of the game, Ali needs 1.5 points to win. Bills run a mesh play to the right to draw the safety one way or another. It was a clear read to dump the ball in the flat to Zack Moss with no one covering him for an easy 10 yards and possibly 1st down if he can make a man miss, but what does Josh Allen do instead? He stares down the receiver and throws it out of bounds into double coverage… A catch and 10+ yards for Zack Moss secures the win for Ali and my prediction of most points with 132. Instead, Ali falls to Parth, 131.3 – 132.8, and loses the $10 this week to him. Parth secures the bag and gets that precious 3rd win to have him right in the mix for a playoff run.
